Who we are
FL Tax Experts is a tax preparation and small-business consulting firm in St. Petersburg, Florida. This policy covers our website (fltaxexperts.com), our private client portal, and the tax and consulting work we do for you. Questions? Email steve.v@fltaxexperts.com or call (727) 300-1676.
What we collect
- What you give us: your name, email, phone, address, household details, and the information and documents needed to prepare your return, such as W-2s, 1099s, Social Security numbers and bank details for your refund or payment.
- Sign-in information: your email address. If you choose "Sign in with Google," Google tells us your name and email address and confirms you own it. We don't get your Google password or anything else in your Google account.
- Website visits: our public pages use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help people. Our private pages (your portal, your forms, your return) do not use Google Analytics.
How we use it
- To prepare, review and file your tax returns and give you the services you asked for.
- To talk with you about your return, your documents and your appointments.
- To meet our legal duties, such as keeping records the IRS requires.
We use your tax information only to prepare your return unless you give us written permission to use it for something else, as federal law requires (Internal Revenue Code section 7216).
We never sell your information
We don't sell, rent or trade your information to anyone, ever.
When we share it
- With the IRS and state tax agencies, to file your return.
- With the service providers that run our systems, only as needed to provide our service: Google Workspace (secure file storage and email), Netlify (our website host), Resend (sends our emails) and our tax software. They are not allowed to use your information for their own purposes.
- With another tax professional, such as an Enrolled Agent or CPA in our network, only if you sign a separate written consent first.
- When the law requires it, such as a valid court order.
How we protect it
- Everything you send travels over a secure, encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- Your documents go into your own private folder on Google's secure servers, encrypted at rest. Only you and our team can open it.
- Our team uses two-step sign-in, and we follow a written information security plan, as the FTC Safeguards Rule requires of tax preparers.
- We ask you never to email Social Security numbers or tax documents. Use your private portal link instead.
- If your information is ever exposed, we will tell you as Florida law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your returns and records for seven years after filing, then delete them securely, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
Your choices
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information. We'll do it unless the law requires us to keep it.
- Stop marketing emails at any time with the unsubscribe link or by telling us.
To do any of these, email steve.v@fltaxexperts.com or call (727) 300-1676.
Children
Our website isn't meant for children under 13. We only collect a child's information when a parent gives it to us to list them on the family's tax return.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
